Senior Olivia Chipi received the Cathy Hirt Leadership Award presented by the Foundation in memory of Dr. Cathy Csaky Hirt Ph.D., J.D.
Cathy dedicated her life to helping others through public service and leadership. She served on the Fort Worth City Council and chaired numerous community boards and committees Cathy was chair of our Foundation at the time of her death in 2015.
Cathy was a dynamic leader who believed that nothing should stop women from persevering. Passionate about education, Cathy believed all young women should have the opportunity to learn and be successful; that they should have opportunities to serve as leaders in their communities. Because of her devotion to others, it’s only fitting that this year’s awardee embodies Cathy’s leadership spirit.
Olivia is a young woman who motivates and inspires people to perform to their best abilities. She leads by example and shows empathy and mindfulness for others. She shares responsibility, delegates authority, and gives credit appropriately. She was an officer of the Senior Class and co-founder of a student mentoring program.
We congratulate Olivia and wish her well as she embarks on her path to college and her future at Salem College. A $1,000 scholarship has been provided by Cathy’s son Karl Hirt and his wife Mary Pat Wixted.
